The agreement calls for Aptium Oncology IT Consulting to provide remote hosting and support for a variety of oncology-specific systems at two ambulatory centers, the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, and its satellite cancer treatment center in La Quinta, California. Aptium will provide IT support services for their oncology optimized EMR, and oncology optimized Scheduling Services at the centers.
The agreement continues a long-running relationship between Desert Regional Medical Center and Aptium Oncology, which started in 1989 when the medical center partnered with Aptium to offer the area's first multi-disciplinary outpatient cancer program, and continued through a joint program to pilot an early version EMR designed for ambulatory cancer centers.
Ken Wheat, Chief Operating Officer at Tenet, states, "The extended agreement builds on the fundamentals of our relationship with Aptium Oncology. Among others, Aptium has worked successfully with the cancer center to develop and implement a custom, state-of-the-art oncology EMR. Their team generated and perfected a system that coordinates our complex, multidisciplinary program with the needs of our physicians and clinicians. The end result is enhanced, best-in-class care for our patients."
Teresa Whipple, Executive Director at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Desert Regional Medical Center, agrees, "The center's decision to extend its agreement with Aptium Oncology IT Consulting is based on Aptium's track record in delivering the most comprehensive and innovative IT solutions to help us run our cancer centers effectively and efficiently. Because these solutions are tailored to our oncologists' needs, they are able to spend less time on back-end processes and spend more time delivering personalized, compassionate care."
Aptium Chief Information Officer Wesley Scruggs states, "We look forward to another two years of successfully collaborating with Desert Regional Medical Center to deliver patient-focused cancer care to its communities. Our team is so tightly integrated with the clinicians and administrators at their cancer centers that we feel very much a part of their operations."
